The library’s 4th floor serves many purposes. It has shelves of print journals, music, DVDs, CDs, and K12 educational materials. It also has a variety of study spaces for individuals and groups. It is has the Music Ensemble office and the WLU Press office.

Music Ensemble Room

The ensemble room has a door and large window into the room. Beneath the window is a slot for returning materials

The Music Ensemble office holds the music ensemble collection and a service desk staffed by a library employee. When the office is closed, items can be returned through the slot under the window edge.

Group Study Rooms

A group study room with two tables pressed together to create a large table. Moveable chairs are around it with a few more chairs against of wall. A monitor is mounted on the wall with a cable onto a table. There is a window from the study room into the hallway

There are two group study rooms on the 4th floor, which can be booked online
The rooms have tables that can seat eight
Each room has a large monitor fixed on the wall
Chairs and table layout placement can be changed
The door does not have an automatic door opener
A wall has a window to the interior of the 4th floor

Study Areas

Individual Study Rooms (for ALC students)

A typical private study room with a chair and desk. The desk has drawers. There is a tall, narrow window next to door. Braille room number is on glass window, 2 o'clock from door handle. Rooms will vary slightly.

The 4th floor has three individual study rooms that can be booked online
These rooms are dedicated to students registered with the Accessible Library Centre

Study Tables and Workstations

An area on the 4th floor. A cluster of workstations on desks. Nearby are several tables with four chairs around each. There’s also a long desk with chairs on either side. Large bookshelves are close that hold print journals. On the ground is an electrical outlet awkwardly sticking out of the floor. It would be at tripping hazard.

Quiet Study Desks (Grouped)

A group of about 15 study carrels with workstations in them. There are partitions between the desks for privacy.

Towards the back of the desk, at the top, is a surface that has a light and a power outlet

Quiet Study Desks (along Perimeter)

A line of study carrels along the outer wall of the library. There are partitions on the left and right side of these desks, however, these desks are arranged face front to back with other desk. They are still separated by a partition for privacy.

Around the perimeter of the 4th floor are individual study desks
The sides of the desk have vertical partitions that offers some privacy and reduces visual distractions
Towards the back of the desk, at the top, is a surface that has a light and a power outlet

Podcasting Studio, Room 401

In the interior of the 4th floor, at room 401 is the library podcasting studio
The studio can be reserved online

Amenities

Single user, all gender washroom with accessibility features (example from main floor)
