Biblical sources

Biblical commentary

Systematic series of written interpretations and explanations of Scripture. A commentary publication often analyzes or expound on individual books (or groups of books) of the Bible, chapter by chapter and verse by verse.

Journal article

Biblical scholars often publish articles or sermons based on biblical passages. Omni does not have good metadata for biblical passages, but the ATLA Religion Database does.

  • limit to "Books and eBooks" on the left side of search results
  • remember to use "quotation marks" when searching for phrases
  • limit publication year if applicable
