This resource provides full text access to the content of the Canadian newspaper, from 1844 up to four years ago. Pages are viewable as PDF images, but the text is also searchable. Content includes regular articles as well as images, advertisements, classifieds, political cartoons and birth and death notices. This archive is created by scanning the original records from microfilm print masters. The archive is then made searchable using optical character recognition (OCR) software. You can search by keywords, phrases, titles, authors, subjects, and more, having much the same search and navigation functionality that all the ProQuest databases have.
