New Course Resources system coming May 2026

  • Starting with the Spring 2026 semester, Laurier Library is moving to a new Course Resources system. This will replace the old Ares system that many of you are familiar with.
  • As part of the transition, instructor access to create course resource lists in Ares was shut down on February 23, 2026.
  • If you need a course resource list for Spring 2026, please email your syllabus to libreserves@wlu.ca

Winter 2026 Course Resource lists

  • Can I still access my Winter 2026 Course Resource lists?
    • Yes! Ares remains open for viewing already created resource lists.
  • I forgot to add a reading to the resource list for my Winter 2026 course! How can I add it now?

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are we moving to a new Course Resources system?

Ares has reached the end of its life. The new system (Leganto) has a more modern user interface, will enable much greater instructor independence, can encourage student engagement, and will streamline library staff workflows to enable us to support more courses.

What support is available to help me use the new system?

A Guide for Instructors is available to walk you through the steps of creating and managing a resource list. In addition, there will be scheduled drop-in sessions with live demonstrations and opportunities to ask questions.

Do I have to create my own resource list now or can the library still do it for me?

You are welcome to send a copy of your course syllabus with all the resources listed by week to libreserves@wlu.ca and we can build your list for you.

I am teaching a course that I taught last year and I want to use the same resource list. Is this possible?

Yes! When you are on the My Learning Space page for the course, click on Course Resources in the top menu and then select Create a list from an existing list. Follow the prompts to select the resource list you want to copy to the new semester. Full instructions are in the Guide for Instructors.

Who can I contact if I have questions?

We are happy to answer questions! Please email libreserves@wlu.ca
