Company information resources
Key resources for finding Canadian public company information:
Includes a SWOT analysis on selective companies.
Contains a company’s public filings such as annual reports.
Contains business and financial information on more than 10,000 publicly traded companies.
Key resources for finding Canadian private company information:
- Corporate websites
Website may contain a corporate plan and/or annual report, i.e. CBC.
Under “Search by Content Type”, select “Company Profiles” (found under the “Companies” heading). Enter in company name in search box. Use Advanced Options to add date range, select sources, etc. to the search. Click “Apply” then click “Search”.
Key resources for finding U.S. public company information:

Newspapers and trade journals
Newspapers and trade publications contain articles that are a good source of information on current issues facing corporations. You can access newspapers and/or trade periodicals through the following journal databases:

- Canadian Newsstand Complete
- CBCA Complete (Canadian Business and Current Affairs)
- CPI.Q (Canadian Periodial Index)
- Factiva
- Nexis Uni
Industry information resources
Key resources for finding Canadian industry information:
- Industry Canada – Canadian Industry Statistics (CIS)
Click the “Just for businesses” tab then select “Find statistics by industry” under “Find statistics and research”. Enter industry name in search box or browse by industry.
Includes a Five Forces analysis, found within the industry profile.

Contains Canadian International Standard Industrial Classification (ISIC) reports.
Click “Industries” and select industry, i.e. Packaged Food. Use Search Tree to narrow by category. Click Go. Narrow by Geographies then click “Run Search.” Alternatively, enter in the industry name in the search box (top right corner).
