Library Pilots New Ebook Purchase Project

The library is continuing our goal to expand access to online information through two new ebook pilots. During the term of the project, a large number of ebooks (over 200,000 titles) from several academic publishers including Taylor and Francis/Routledge, Cambridge University Press and JSTOR will be available to faculty and students through Omni. The project will run through the end of August 2022.

Project Details

The project consists of two initiatives: a Demand Driven Acquisition (DDA) project and an Evidence-Based Acquisition (EBA) project. In each, usage data is utilized to inform decisions about which books to add to the library's permanent collection. The DDA model uses active usage monitoring to determine when an ebook is purchased while the EBA model accumulates one year’s worth of data for Librarians to review and make purchase decisions. Subject Liaison Librarians will continue to purchase books directly to support faculty and students.
