Traces + Echoes: Between Places, Now Open to Visit at the Robert Langen Art Gallery

Traces + Echoes: Between Places is a collaborative video and sound installation by Toronto-based artists Michelle Breslin and Barbara Greczny that explores how memory lingers in the landscapes we pass through. Filmed across Ontario's forests, roadsides, waterways, and skies, the work weaves together moving image, original composition, and field recording to trace the quiet ways place holds grief, loss, and connection. Breslin's footage returns to the Toronto Islands and the Leslie Spit, sites carrying personal weight, while Greczny's video—shot largely from a moving vehicle during years of road trips with her brother—reflects on estrangement and the presence of absence. The two bodies of work unfold independently, intersecting unexpectedly, leaving space for the viewer's own reflection.
Originally presented as a photography and sound installation during the 2026 CONTACT Photography Festival, the piece has been reimagined here through video and sound.
Breslin is a multimedia artist working across music, sound design, and video; her practice was recently featured in Flow, an international sound collaboration presented in Vienna. Greczny, an MFA graduate of Ryerson's Documentary Media program, works in photography, video, and installation, with a practice rooted in memory, identity, and place.
The Robert Langen Art Gallery is located on the main floor of the Laurier Library.
Gallery hours are Monday to Thursday from 8:30 am to 10:00 pm, Friday from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm, and Saturday to Sunday from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.
