Theses and Dissertations are major research projects conducted by senior university students, usually graduate students, as a degree requirement. To identify theses or dissertations, start with one of these databases:

Dissertations & Theses: Full Text (ProQuest) 1861 to present

North American and European coverage. Many recent items are available in full text.

Theses Canada

Index goes back to 1965; full text available for recent works from many institutions.

Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations

Repository for worldwide theses and dissertations.

Digital Commons Network

Content from hundreds of institutional repositories, many of which includes theses.

Center for Research Libraries

Lists more than 800,000 foreign, primarily European, doctoral dissertations.

Laurier theses and dissertations

The Library keeps two copies of all theses and dissertations completed at Laurier (UG and UW have a similar policy). Use the Omni search tool.

Obtaining theses and dissertations not available online or at the Laurier Library

Doctoral/masters theses can be borrowed from Ontario universities participating in Omni. For libraries outside of Omni, theses can be borrowed through Interlibrary Loans (RACER) if a circulating copy is available.

If the title you want is not available on loan, you may be able purchase a copy directly from Proquest Dissertation Express. If the title is not available from Dissertation Express, contact Interlibrary Loans for more information.
