Learn about instruction sessions and tours offered by Laurier Archives and Special Collections.
Instruction
Laurier Archives and Special Collections staff are happy to provide instruction sessions to support classes connected to our holdings and/or areas of expertise. Possible topics may include:
- Introduction to Laurier Archives and Special Collections: learn about our archives, special collections, and rare books, how to find material in our holdings, and what to expect when visiting the Julia Hendry Archives Reading Room.
- Introduction to Archival Research: learn how archival material is organized, how to identify, find, and evaluate archival material, and what to expect when visiting archives.
- Subject-specific Instruction: learn about materials from our holdings which relate to the subject of your class. Please refer to the Collections page to learn more about our holdings and collecting strengths.
- Collaboratively Build and/or Teach a Session: contact us to discuss creating a session or assignment for your course.
In-Person and Virtual Instruction Sessions
The Julia Hendry Archives Reading Room (Room L1-122) can accommodate 15 people. The Library Instruction Room (Room L3-314) can accommodate 32 people. We will offer multiple, shorter sessions to accommodate larger classes. Material from Laurier Archives and Special Collections cannot be removed from the Library.
We can offer virtual instruction sessions via Zoom or Teams.

Please contact to us to schedule your instruction session. We ask that you submit your instruction session request as early as possible so we can tailor the instruction session to meet your needs.
Tours
Laurier Archives and Special Collections can provide tours of our facilities and holdings upon request. Tours are designed to accommodate each group’s learning goals and interests. Please contact us to learn more about our tour options. We ask that you submit your request at least four weeks in advance so we can tailor the tour to meet your needs.
