Open Access (OA) is about making your research readily available to the world, at no cost to the reader.  At Laurier and other Canadian institutions, Tri-Agency expects its grant recipients to make their journal outputs open to the public by making their articles OA or placing a copy in an institutional repository, like Scholars Commons.

This webinar will introduce the current Open Access Policy and what we know about its pending updates and timelines, as well as the Library's supports for researchers, including APC discounts and how to deposit in Scholars Commons.  We'll discuss:

  • Current and proposed requirements around article deposit in an institutional repository
  • The future requirement for an open license like Creative Commons (CC) at the point of publication
  • Article Processing Charge (APC) discounts negotiated by the Library an its partners
  • Scholars Commons, our free institutional repository for researchers to deposit their research into
