Joni Mitchell concert poster, 1974
Our most recent acquisition is a Joni Mitchell promotional poster from a concert on the Waterloo campus. Joni Mitchell played in the Athletic Complex on February 8, 1974. This was the first concert ever in this building. An interesting characteristic of the poster is that Wilfrid Laurier University is spelt incorrectly (Wilfred Laurier University).

Canadian Arctic Resources Committee (CARC) was a public interest, research, and advocacy organization focused on issues of northern development. CARC was formed in 1971 as a direct response to the Mackenzie Valley Pipeline and the Berger Commission and spent the next 50 years partnering with Indigenous communities and organizations, presenting workshops and seminars, conducting in-depth research programs, publishing, and advocating for full impact assessments of all development projects in the North. Over the past year, the Canadian Arctic Resources Committee fonds has been re-processed, making it easier for researchers to identify and access material.
Save the Oak Ridges Moraine fonds
Save The Oak Ridges Moraine (STORM) coalition is a nonprofit founded in 1989 with the mission to promote legislated protection of the entire Oak Ridges Moraine through public education and outreach. The Oak Ridges Moraine, a 160 kilometer long ridge of sand and gravel hills running along the northern part of the Greater Toronto Area is the source of drinking water for over 250,000 people, and forms the headwaters for over 65 rivers and streams. The Moraine is the wellspring for critical habitat such as wetlands, kettle lakes, kettle bogs, and natural and planted forests for many species of animals.
STORM highlights early activism efforts from a network of groups that lobbied for legislation to protect the hydrological and ecological health of the Moraine. This collection features correspondence, promotional material, and reports related to STORM’s stewardship and advocacy.
