What’s New at Laurier Archives and Special Collections

Laurier Archives and Special Collections is pleased to announce the following material is available to researchers in the Julia Hendry Archives Reading Room.
Hon. Rev. Walter McLean (P.C., M.P.) was a member of parliament for Waterloo from 1979-1993. In addition to his political career, he served as a member of the clergy with the Presbyterian church, as an Honorary Consul, a member of Canada’s Delegation to the United Nations General Assembly, and on the Mandela Legacy Canada project. His records document his activity as a Waterloo resident, a local MP, and as an international affairs consultant.

IndigiJoy is the latest addition to the zine collection. It was created by the Willow River Centre in downtown Kitchener and features artwork by nine local queer Indigenous artists.
In 2024, Laurier Archives and Special Collections received an accrual to the Gabriel Kney fonds. Gabriel Kney was a pipe builder based out of London, Ontario. This accrual contains photographs, technical drawings, and pipe scales for organs built by Kney. Gabriel Kney passed away on November 8, 2024.

Paul Tiessen was a professor in the Department of English and Film Studies. This collection contains posters, newsletters, and journals which document his research interests and the activities of the Department of English and Film Studies.

Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada fonds
The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada (ELCIC) is the largest Lutheran denomination in Canada. It formed in 1986 with the merger of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Canada (1967-1986) and the Lutheran Church in America – Canada Section (1962-1986). Fonds consists of records documenting the activities of the ELCIC.
