Please join us in celebrating International Open Access Week as we explore this year’s theme Community over Commercialization: Exploring Perspectives on Open Scholarship @ Laurier.
International Open Access Week is an annual celebration of advocacy and progress towards free and immediate online access to scholarly research to the widest possible audience. The Open Access movement encompasses Open Science, Open Data, Open Educational Resources (OER) and all forms of Open Scholarship.
As part of this year’s celebration, the Office of Research and the Library invite you to an online panel discussion on Tuesday October 22, 12 pm to 1:30 pm. We will explore open access scholarship through themes of research impact, grant compliance innovation and public accountability with our speakers:
- Ali Hashemi, assistant professor, Psychology,
- Lianne Leddy, Canada Research Chair in Indigenous Histories and Historical Practice in Canada and associate professor, History,
- Michael Steeleworthy, data librarian and coordinator of research data services,
- William Quinton, professor, Geography and Environmental Studies, and
- Simon Kiss, associate professor, Human Rights and Political Science.
