Tri-Agency RDM and Open Access updates: what you need to know

SSHRC, NSERC, and CIHR are proposing updates to the Tri-Agency Open Access Policy and Research Data Management Policy. To learn about the recommended changes, their impact on researchers, and library supports to help you meet the proposed requirements, register for our webinar via MS Teams.

These proposed updates, which are still in draft, include the following changes:

  • Research Data Management Policy
    • Data retention for 10 years post end of grant, and 
    • Data deposit into a repository like Borealis any research data that directly support findings in a pre-print or peer-reviewed journal
    • Review draft text here
    • Timelines: Proposed 1 January 2027
  • Open Access Policy
    • All Tri-Agency-funded journal outputs must be made OA and be deposited in an institutional repository like Scholars Commons at the point of publication
    • Proposed changes are still in internal review; read the draft here.
    • Timelines: TBD

This webinar will review existing grant recipient requirements in the OA and RDM policies, summarize the proposed changes and their impact, and highlight Library supports including our repositories and APC discounts.

This is an open session for the Laurier community, including faculty, grad and undergrads, HQP, and staff.  Register via MS Teams.
