Literature reviews for an undergraduate thesis are usually more in-depth than ones for a regular assignment.  In order to confidently position your own research within the ongoing scholarly conversation, you will need to develop a focused and systematic search strategy (often in multiple databases).  In this workshop, we will explore the benefits of using discipline-specific databases and look at techniques that will make your searches more effective by balancing precision and sensitivity.

By the end of this workshop, you will be able to:

  • Develop clearly defined search concepts,
  • Build searches using truncation and proximity,
  • Incorporate subject headings into your search strategy,
  • Create database accounts and save your searches.
