May 23 – June 22, 2023

One Life: Four Seasons represents a selection of works that captures the beauty and essence of the Parisian and Montreal landscape and street life. Through his vibrant colours, and flowing brushwork Elibekian invites viewers into his impressionistic world of light-hearted scenes and countryside splendour. To cleverly reveal subtle nuances often overlooked – unraveling new perspectives.

Born in 1970, Areg Elibekian graduated from the Institute of Drama and Arts, Yerevan, Armenia. He is the youngest of three generations of world-famous Armenian artists, son of Robert and grandson of Vagharshag. Elibekian often travels to Paris to paint the exquisite beauty of the city. His compositions are rich in colours and often depict Impressionist influences of bourgeoisie open-air scenes, café society and street life. In his landscape works, we see condensed landscapes of peaceful riverfronts, gardens and city brasseries that evoke the memories of a bygone lifestyle. One Life: Four Seasons takes viewers on a journey that reflects the vibrancy and energy of the world around us.

Like his father and grandfather, Elibekian’s artwork is included in various private and public museums/galleries collections. His exhibition history includes solo exhibitions in Arame Art Gallery, Yerevan, Armenia; Stewart Hall, Montreal, Quebec; Gallery Hai Cie, Paris, France; International Art Center, Beirut, Lebanon; ALMA Gallery, Boston, Massachusetts; Gallery L’oeil Reno Berg, Brussels, Belgium; Studio 22, Antwerp, Belgium; Saint Gregory Cathedral Church, Manhattan, New York; and Karen Mitchell Frank Gallery, Dallas, Texas.

Areg Elibekian lives in Montreal and teaches at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.
