Volunteering

Library policy on accepting volunteers for Library work.

The Library does not accept volunteers. Regular Library work should be done by paid librarian, staff, or student employees.

Unpaid placements

As an academic library, the Library supports student education and encourages the development of new staff in the library field. Therefore, the Library will accept students for time-limited, short-term unpaid internships or placements. These placements should be an educational experience for the student or a required component of a course or program (e.g. Laurier service learning courses, Mohawk College library technician placements).

Students should work on special projects rather than ongoing staff or librarian tasks.

Before a placement can be accepted, a librarian or Library staff member must agree to initiate a suitable project and supervise the student’s work during the placement.
