Searching the Deep Web

  • Deep Web search engine for psychology: PsycINFO

Guided example 1. The basics of searching title or abstract

  • Search: “Social Anxiety” (include quotes) in title field
  • Search: “Social Anxiety” (include quotes) in abstract field
  • Search: “Social anxiety” (include quotes) in the title field OR “social anxiety” (include quotes) in the abstract field

Guided example 2. Subject searching

  • In advance search, select thesaurus
  • Look up attention and then select visual attention

Guided example 3a. Look up a test and measure

  • Click “Look up Test & measures” link to open up a search window
  • Enter “Social Anxiety Scale” (with the quotes) and click Find
  • Select “ Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale” (720)
  • Click “Add to search”
  • Then add a search term related to a topic of your interest

  • In any field: “social anxiety”;
  • Add “appended” for a field with “Test and measures - TM” set in the drop down menu option
