Changes to interlibrary loans (requests for materials from other libraries)

Mar 19, 2020 -

Laurier Library will be suspending interlibrary loan services (requesting from other libraries) for all print and physical materials such as books. Laurier and most other partner libraries have closed their physical locations.

We will be working hard to enhance the availability of electronic resources to our campus community through purchase or license of additional electronic resources or through requests for digital borrowing (digital interlibrary loan).

Update on UG and UW Loan Information for Laurier Omni User Accounts

Jan 13, 2020 -

Wilfrid Laurier migrated to a new library system (Omni) in late December along with the Universities of Waterloo, Guelph and 11 other Ontario universities.  While this new system creates some significant enhancements, the migration process has also created a temporary issue where some current loans from the University of Waterloo or the University of Guelph may not be visible in your Omni “My Library Account” (upper right hand corner, under “Menu”).

Omni new academic search tool is now live!

Dec 17, 2019 -

Dear Faculty, Students and Staff,

The Laurier Library is proud to announce that Omni is now live for our community. The transition from our previous system (Primo) is now complete. Omni is your new academic search tool and library system that replaces Primo.

All Laurier users can now place holds/recalls from other Omni libraries (including Waterloo and Guelph). Note: holds/recalls are now called “Requests” in Omni.

Transgender Day of Remembrance, November 20th

Nov 20, 2019 -
Every year, the Transgender Day of Remembrance is observed on November 20th, to honour and remember all transgender people lost to violence. This can include both physical violence, such as brutal physical attacks and murder, as well as psychological violence, which leads to high suicide rates among transgender people. One of the important parts of stopping this is learning about the issue. Laurier Library has provided a list of a few resources on the topic of violence against transgender people.

Reminder to faculty: submit course readings for winter semester 2020 now

Nov 14, 2019 -

We are currently only 8 weeks away from the start of Winter classes, and with the University being closed for 2 of those weeks over the holidays, now is the best time to get ahead of the rush and submit your readings for inclusion in the Library's course reserves system (Ares)! This is especially important this year as the course reserves office will have a week of some planned system downtime from December 4th through 10th for a system switchover which could affect processing times.

What kind of readings can be placed in Ares?
