Additional Times for Books to Go Waterloo Campus Pick Up

The Library is pleased to announce additional times for the Books to Go pick up service at the Waterloo campus to include Mondays and Fridays from 2:00pm – 4:00pm.

The new Books to Go Schedule for Waterloo campus (located in front of the DAWB Building) will start on Monday January 18, 2021. For more information, please see the Library’s Books to Go service page.

Library Undergraduate Research Award 2020 - Call for submissions

The Library is delighted to announce our continuing series of four awards available to any undergraduate student at Laurier.

The awards will be given to recognize undergraduate students who demonstrate exceptional use of library resources as part of their regular coursework. More specific details are available at: library.wlu.ca/about/awards

Renewing books from the University of Guelph and the University of Waterloo

For Library users who have books signed out from the University of Guelph and the University of Waterloo that were due back on January 8, 2021, you will need to renew your items if you wish to keep them beyond this date.

To renew a book from the University of Guelph and the University of Waterloo, following these steps in Omni:

"Love in the Time of COVID" launches Nov 19th

The Laurier Library is releasing a compilation video called Love in the Time of COVID featuring creative submissions from more than 20 local arts organizations.

The video will be available free of charge on the Laurier YouTube channel on Thursday, November 19th. Captioned video is provided for the Deaf and hard of hearing, and an audio described video is available for viewers who are blind or experiencing sight loss.

Borrowing Services from Guelph and Waterloo Restarts November 9

We are pleased to announce that on Monday November 9, faculty, students and staff will again be able to request and borrow books and other materials from the Universities of Guelph and Waterloo in Omni.

Due to logistics and delivery requirements between universities, requested items may take longer to arrive than in the past. You will continue to receive item pick up availability notices from Omni when your item is ready.

Scan on Demand Service Pilot Now Live

The Laurier Library is piloting a new Scan on Demand service which will provide users with the ability to request digital scans from books or journals from the Library’s print collection on Waterloo campus at this time.

This service is being made available initially to Laurier faculty and Graduate students during the Fall 2020 semester as part of a pilot project starting October 20. Expansion of the service will be planned based on pilot outcomes.

Reserves: Winter Term 2021

Faculty members: submit your readings for Winter 2021 term by November 15. It is a good idea to tag them by week so that the reserve staff are able to prioritize requests and ensure that materials will be ready for your students at the beginning of the term.

Bookable study space in library opens October 13

Laurier Library is now providing appointments for bookable study space for students at our Waterloo campus library. This service is currently only available for Laurier students.

The Library has 35 study spaces available on a rotating half-day basis, including:

  • 23 study tables
  • 12 computer carrels

Archives Research Appointments Now Available

Laurier Archives is launching a service for booking appointments for consultation of our research collections. This service will start on Wednesday October 14 and is currently only available for Laurier faculty, students, and staff.

Meditation Sessions Available

During the Fall 2020 term, the Library and the Robert Langen Art Gallery are teaming up with the Lotus Meditation Centre to offer a series of free-guided meditation sessions delivered live on Zoom.

Two experienced meditation practitioners, Vani and Kris, will guide us through simple breathing and chanting techniques for relaxation. Perfect for beginners and those needing a short break to recharge and refocus.
