The Laurier Library is commemorating Pride month! We hope all members of our library and university community, both near and far, are staying safe during this time.
This Pride, although it is one without parades and festivals, we would like to take a moment and remember all of the work that members of the LGBTQ+ community have done in the fight for continued gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans and queer rights across the spectrum of diverse identities, including sexual, gender and racial.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the historic Stonewall riots. On June 28th 1969, at the Stonewall Inn in New York City, after a police raid, the LGBTQ+ community rose up and demanded their rights be recognized. This is regarded as the start of the gay rights movement and gave birth to the contemporary LGBTQ+ rights movement.
The Laurier Library wants to celebrate this historic milestone with all members of the LGBTQ+ community – both at Laurier and beyond - by wishing everyone a very happy pride!
