Doctoral and Master’s students are no longer required to pay for binding and submit two hard copies of their thesis to the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (FGPS). Instead, as of summer 2014, a new Electronic Thesis Deposit (ETD) procedure came into effect and all graduate students are now required to submit their final theses and dissertations electronically via Scholars Commons.

The procedures for defense, thesis approval and submission to your Thesis Committee remain the same. An Electronic Thesis or Dissertation (ETD) is simply the electronic version of your thesis.

It is the student’s responsibility to meet formatting requirements for the thesis, as well as to ensure that the thesis is converted into a compatible PDF/A version and to verify the version for accuracy and completeness. The student is also responsible for ensuring that the upload of his/her thesis is complete in advance of the registration deadlines, in order to graduate at the next Convocation.
