Using Primo

Primo is a search tool that allows you to find and access a wide range of print and electronic resources from a single search point.

Finding Books

Use the Primo Catalogue to identify books at Laurier, the Universities of Waterloo and Guelph, and the Annex

  • use the Books+ tab
  • look at "subjects" at left of search results page to find more terms to search
  • limit to Brantford Campus Library to find books in Brantford
  • books at the Waterloo campus can be sent to Brantford

Finding scholarly articles

Start with the Primo Catalogue

  • use the Articles+ tab
  • after searching, limit to "Peer-reviewed" and English

Finding newspaper articles

Start with the Primo Catalogue

  • use the Articles+ tab
  • after searching, limit to "Newspaper articles" and English

Business Databases

Business Source Complete

Includes scholarly journals, books, case studies, marketing research and other business and economics material.

Search Tips

Choose good search terms

Evaluate your sources

  • Relevance - Does this information answer my research question?
  • Authority - Who wrote this, and who did they cite?
  • Date - When was this information created or updated?
  • Appearance - Does it look professional/ academic?
  • Reason - Was this information created to inform, sell, educate, entertain, or persuade?
