French language resources through the public library

Main floor of Brantford Public Library:

  • Multilingual books (including French fiction and nonfiction)
  • Multilingual videos (including French films)
  • Magazines (including Paris Match and L'actualite)

Lower Floor of Brantford Public Library:

  • Language learning “how to” videos, dictionaries, and grammar books
  • Laurier collection

French language resources through Laurier

Finding books in French:

  • Search Laurier’s Primo library catalogue for books on your topic. The default search is both books and articles so choose the “books” tab if you want to eliminate articles
  • You can start with the title of a book, an author, or a topic (e.g. “Albert Camus”) and then narrow down your results by clicking on one of the “refine your results” links on the left-hand side of the screen
  • You can limit your results to French language materials
  • You can also limit your results to the Brantford campus and/or books published within a specific time frame (e.g. works published after 2000)

Finding French language videos:

  • Start at Laurier’s Primo library catalogue and click on the “advanced search” link
  • Type in the name of a title or a topic, and limit your results by resource type (audio visual) and language (French)
