Google Books allows searching inside books, including those owned by the library and those not owned. To find a nearby library with the book: choose "Find this Book in a Library" then enter location: Ontario.

Books no longer in copyright may be available in full text.

Some reasons to use Google Book Search:

  • searching inside books before heading to the shelves or placing a hold or interlibrary loan request
  • tracking down an individual poem or song
  • finding the source for a single chapter or page
  • identifying authors, page numbers for quotations
  • previewing books before purchase
  • checking references attached to books to identify more items on a topic
