Library front entrance closed for renovations

Main entrance renovations

The main entrance to Laurier’s Waterloo campus Library building has been closed for renovations.

The main entrance is being reconstructed during the summer and is scheduled to be reopened for the fall term. Construction will include demolition and removal of the entire elevated concrete podium along the east side of the Library, which has been closed in recent years due to its deteriorated structural condition. The new construction will provide an attractive, universally-accessible entrance to the Library.

Key things you need to know:

  • Access to the Library throughout the summer will be provided through the doors located at the rear of the building through Parking Lot 12 facing Albert Street.
  • The after hours book drop is conveniently located at the back of the building adjacent to the rear doors.
  • The main Services and Help Desk will be relocated to Floor 3 of the Library, between the main stairwell and elevators, to minimize noise and disruptions.

In addition, the pedestrian walkway in front of the Library will be closed for the summer to facilitate the demolition and construction activities. The Schlegel and Peters Buildings may be accessed via the exterior walkways beside the DAWB or via the sidewalks from Albert Street.

The construction activities will unfortunately be disruptive to the normal activities in this area of the campus, particularly during the initial demolition phase. We regret the inconvenience, but note that the short term disruption is unavoidable in making these necessary improvements to the Library facilities.
