Waterloo campus updates:

New Reserves office

We are preparing for the installation of wall extensions in this area, immediately across from the elevators on floor 3. New wall extensions are scheduled to be installed on July 28, which will mean noise in the area and the relocation of Reserves staff to an alternate location while the work is taking place. Contact libreserves@wlu.ca for more information.

Energy conservation measures

Upgrades to light fixtures began in late July and are scheduled to run until August 18. This work will include replacing incandescent and fluorescent bulbs with low consumption LEDs throughout the building as well as minor upgrades to switches. There will be no closures as a result of this work, although minor noise and disrupted lighting is expected in areas where the replacements are ongoing.

In addition, work is expected to take place in August on a new solar wall on the exterior of the south side of the Waterloo campus Library building. No disruptions as a result of this work are expected.

Gallery/WLU Press renovations

Work on the gallery space on the main floor continues to progress well as all major walls and interior elements have been roughed-in. Users can expect continued noise and increased traffic in/out of this area. The new WLU Press area on floor 4 is very near completion, with only small elements and touch-ups remaining.

Floor 3 reorganization

A reorganization of seating areas on Floor 3 is expected to take place during the last two weeks of August.

Brantford campus updates:

Digital Library and Learning Commons

Renovations to the Digital Library and Learning Commons in Grand River Hall as part of the university's sustainable energy management initiative are continuing and are expected to be completed by the end of the summer. The DLLC will remain closed for the duration of the work, and Brantford librarians have temporarily moved to SC Johnson rooms 207 to 209.
