Laurier librarian wins writing award

The Library is pleased to announce that Pauline Dewan is the recipient of the 2015 RUSA Reference Service Press Award for her article “Reading Matters in the Academic Library: Taking the Lead from Public Librarians.”

The voting committee found Dewan’s article to be very timely and well written as well as inspiring. The article explores the idea of revitalizing academic libraries by reconsidering the place of pleasure reading in them.

Dewan will receive a $2,500 stipend for her honour and a plaque, which will be presented at the 2015 ALA Annual Conference in San Francisco, California.

The Library would like to congratulate Pauline on this award.

RUSA, the Reference and User Services Association, supports excellence in the delivery of general library services and materials, and the provision of reference and information services, collection, development, and resource sharing in every type of library. The RUSA Reference Service Press Award recognizes the most outstanding article published that is relevant to RUSA’s areas of interest and concern.
