The Laurier Archives is pleased to announce the winner of the inaugural Joan Mitchell Travel Award. Jessica DeWitt is a PhD candidate in the Department of History at the University of Saskatchewan. Her research focuses on the development of state and provincial park systems in the United States and Canada.
The Joan Mitchell Travel Award is a new travel scholarship that encourages scholars from across Canada to conduct research at the university. The award honours Joan Mitchell, a former head of Laurier's Archives and Special Collections who built Canada's leading archival collection on the environmental conservation movement at the university.
