We're continuing our Tutorial Series this winter and offer you tools to make your research easier, your searching more relevant and more efficient. We offer a variety - some geared to Faculty, graduate students and undergraduates, but anyone is welcome to attend any or all of the sessions offered.

  • FRI JAN 11: Tools for Graduate Students     
    11am-noon     Library Instruction Room
    image of flashlightMake your research more effective. This session provides you with an overview of the library’s resources and services available to you as a graduate student. It includes searching for books, browsing e-journals, selecting and using subject-specific and multidisciplinary databases, accessing articles using Get It@ Laurier and discovering who your liaison librarian is and how s/he can help you with your research. We’ll also field any library related questions you might have.

  • WED FEB 13: Keeping Current Digitally    
    2-3pm      Library Learning Lab

    How can you keep up with your research during these times of information overload? The Keep Current hands-on session will demonstrate how to save your search strategies in various databases and have the results emailed to you on a regular basis. Covers research databases including Web of Science, CSA, e-journals, CISTI source, alerting services, and RSS feeds.  NOT covered: basic searching techniques.  Register here.

     
  • TUES MAR 5: Be Search Savvy     
    1-2pm        Library Learning Lab

    Do you want to extend the reach of your research? Learn how to search with ease and avoid the complication of too many results. This session will emphasize searching in databases available outside the Laurier Library. Learn how to optimize your search techniques in Google Scholar and PubMed. Be prepared to be overwhelmed.
