Before Snapchat and Instagram gave us direct (if highly curated) windows into the backstage lives of celebrities and their entourages, there was Rose Hartman.
Hartman has spent the last three decades photographing the rich, famous, and stylish in some of the most legendary settings of New York nightlife, from Studio 54 to the Metropolitan Museum’s Costume Institute Gala.
Fresh from the SXSW and Hot Docs film festivals, this intimate, honest documentary tells the story of this pioneering photographer and fascinating, complex, and immensely talented woman.
Presented in connection with our LIFT Series as part of the Grand River Film Festival.
